25th Skylands Triathlon, Duathlon & AquaBike Is Gearing Up To Support Community Service for 9/11/11

Clinton, NJ (PRWEB) August 30, 2011

Skylands is New Jersey?s premier Sprint Triathlon supporting local community service projects. Now in its 25th year, Skylands provides one of the most enjoyable and challenging Sprint courses. Whether a first-timer or experienced athlete, the volunteers of the North Hunterdon Rotary welcome you to the 25th Skylands Triathlon, Duathlon & AquaBike!

As part of the USAT?s Mid-Atlantic Triathlon Series for 2011, we are anticipating a great field of competitors to swim our half-mile course in the beautiful Spruce Run Reservoir; bike a challenging 14 miles in rural Hunterdon County, and finish with a 5k run in the gorgeous state park.

Following the competition will be a fabulous 25th anniversary awards ceremony, plenty of food for our athletes and their families, and fun hosted by our great DJ Dan Torrone.

The North Hunterdon Rotary hosts the event to fund our efforts in the community. Throughout our 25 years hosting the Skylands Triathlon, some of our projects have been:

Sending volunteers and money to help rebuild the homes and schools of Hurricane Katrina victims
Sending shelter and fresh-water generation equipment for victims of earthquakes in Haiti
Helping send over 300 kids to college
Helping to build a new ER in our local hospital
Providing hundreds of pounds of fresh produce to food pantries
Hosting hundreds of exchange students
Providing assistance for families of men and women serving our country in Iraq
Building two playgrounds
Building five parks
Helping to build a rescue squad building
Providing holiday gifts to needy children
Providing assistance for families of men and women serving our country in Afghanistan
...in addition to building great friendships and having fun along the way.

The North Hunterdon Rotary Club, founded in 1939, is part of the Rotary International organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world.

The North Hunterdon Rotary Club meets weekly on Friday?s at Beaver Brook Country Club for lunch at 12:15. The meetings promote fellowship and offer programs of interest with engaging speakers. In addition to the service activities the Club engages in, there are a number of social activities that take place throughout the year.
